My Process and What to Expect

What's My Goal?

I want you to feel inspired to send me a message like Ryan Moyes did three days after his wedding. This is a small piece of his email. "Matt, thank you so much for everything! How It All Begins

From our initial contact, I will strive to provide a simple, efficient, stress-free experience for you to get to know my business. That means being upfront about my pricing and services. Unlike other DJs who play coy with their fees until you jump through hoops or those who offer a bargain price only to deliver a subpar experience, transparency is key.

After checking out my website, you should have a good sense of my style, pricing, track record, and, hopefully, what I can bring to your special day. Now comes the comparison stage.

Let's grab a coffee or a drink downtown and brainstorm some wedding ideas. I might even bring my wife, a full-time graphic designer and a top-secret party DJ herself.

I want to hear about your wedding vision and what you've enjoyed (or not) at other weddings you've attended. We'll delve into everything from music and ambiance as guests arrive through dinner to the epic dance party that caps off the night.

You'll also get a taste of my MC style, which is all about keeping it minimal. I'll guide your guests smoothly through the evening's events without hogging the spotlight because, honestly, nobody wants a DJ who talks too much at a wedding.

 

After Our Meeting, What's the Plan?

Think of it as the finale of a reality TV show for wedding DJs. If we've hit it off and you're ready to bring me on board, I'll gather all the notes from our discussion and craft a proposal for you and your partner to review. If it looks good to you, signing on the dotted line is a breeze with our online platform. Once that's done and your deposit is paid, I'll officially be your DJ! Cue the celebration! (But for me, it's also the cue to roll up my sleeves and get to work.)

I need all the nitty-gritty details of your wedding. I'll send over a questionnaire for you and your partner to fill out. This document will be our bible for the day, and since it's all cloud-based, there's no need for any faxing or printing shenanigans (because, really, who does that anymore?). Got questions about whether to go unplugged for the ceremony or need help choosing the perfect song for your grand entrance? Don't worry; we'll review it together, making tweaks and updates as required. And yes, this includes your music preferences. Not a fan of certain genres? Just say the word, and I'll ensure they stay off the playlist.

 

Four Weeks Before the Big Day

It's time to get down to the nitty-gritty of timelines. If you've got a wedding coordinator or planner on board, fantastic! I'll touch base with them to sync up our timeline. I'll also start crafting playlists for every moment of your day, from pre-ceremony to cocktail hour to the dance floor. I generally play over 100 songs at a wedding and sometimes a lot more. Depends if you're a fan of short edits. I'm a fan and can explain why when we talk.  With the music sorted, you can take a deep breath and relax—your wedding now has the foundation of a soundtrack. 

 

Ten Days Before Your Wedding

It's time for a final check-in to ensure everything on our timeline is still spot-on. We'll make adjustments to provide a seamless flow, from the processional song to the last dance.

 

Your Big Day Has Arrived! 

It's finally here—the day you've been dreaming of! I'll be at your venue two hours before showtime, setting up multiple sound systems to ensure your guests receive the best audio experience possible. Your guests will be greeted with clean, sophisticated sounds. Have any DJ friends attending your wedding? I humbly believe they will be impressed. (DJs are tough to impress!)

 

Thirty Minutes Before Your Ceremony

The music begins, setting the stage as your guests start to arrive. I'll mic up your officiant and possibly you or your partner, ensuring everyone can hear every word. About five minutes before the ceremony kicks off, I'll gather your guests and make any necessary announcements, setting the stage for a seamless transition from ceremony to cocktail hour.

Your Ceremony Begins!

It's time to say, "I do." I'll coordinate with your planner and wedding party to ensure everything runs like clockwork. From playing the processional song to smoothly transitioning between moments, I'll keep the atmosphere relaxed, and the focus is on the two of you.

 

You're Married! Let's Celebrate!

With the vows exchanged, it's time to celebrate! Whether you're mingling with guests during cocktail hour or taking a little time for family photos, I've curated a playlist tailored to your tastes, keeping the vibes just right.

 

Dinner Time

After your guests take their seats, I'll introduce your wedding party and the two of you! Are you thinking about your first dance now? I love the idea! Then, it's time to dig into dinner, with music to match the mood. Whether it's a buffet, family-style, food truck, or plated meal, I'll ensure the transition is seamless and the feel is just right.

 

Preparing for Toasts

I'll check in with your chosen speakers as dinner winds down to ensure they're ready to toast. With the mic set up and your photographers poised to capture every moment, the toasts go off without a hitch.

 

Let's Cut the Cake or Not Cut the Cake...

After the toasts, it's time for a sweet treat! Whether it's cutting the cake or another fun tradition, I'll have the perfect song queued up to complement the moment and the emotions. 

 

Time to Hit the Dance Floor!

With dessert served, it's time to dance. Whether it's your first dance or a group slow jam, I'll keep the energy high and play the music you requested.

This is where the magic happens! I'll keep the party going all night with a mix of classic songs and newer favorites. And don't worry—I'll stick to your must-play list and steer clear of anything on the do-not-play list.
